My Assignment to Japan
This is a picture of me in Japan. I've made about three trips to Matsumoto Castle. Matsumoto is a town about 146 miles NW of Tokyo and is in a basin surrounded by mountain ranges. Matsumoto Castle is a feudal castle with the oldest existing donjon (keep) in Japan. Originally built during bloody civil wars in 1504, it is surrounded by a moat, complete with white swans. The black outside walls of the donjon earned it the nickname of Karasu-jo or Crow Castle. As castles go it is considered rather small but has six stories. The stairs are narrow, steep, and have odd heights between steps for defensive purposes. There's one set that while going back down my butt hit the step I just left and before my foot hit the one I was reaching for!
